DycorHazardous Locations

Hi, I’m Shawn. I’m with Dycor Technologies. So in North America, we have classified areas which are hazardous locations, either have gases, dust, or combustible materials. And so the Class I, the one that we deal in, Class I, Div I, Div II, is mostly to do with oil and gas. And it has to do with hazardous gases and explosions. For special projects we do special certifications. One of’s, up to 500 is a special inspections. At Dycor that we have certified the data taker for Class I Div II and we also have the Smart View Controller that is class I Div II. So as, gas being in a hazardous location, the farther you are away that point of danger the less the classification becomes. The division, so you go from Class I Div I, where you’re right next to, say a venting instrument that will vent either a gas or a hazardous gas, and as you get farther away from that vent, the more air is entrained into the gasses, less toxic or combustible it is, the less of a classification you get. So, you go from Class I Div I to Class I Div II and now they broken the class, the division, sorry, into Zone 0, Zone I, and Zone II. Well there, the products are engineered, so the engineer’s will go through the regulations, they will assemble as best practices and then a special inspections in called, and the special inspector certifies the build. Well a data taker is a multiple input data gathering unit. So it will compile lots of data, lots of data points and it will store them and then the Smart View is a industrial controller that will monitor, control and display values. So if someone asks for a Smart View by itself, we could ship it to them. How they install it and maintain it’s classification, is up to the installer, or if we do package it up we would package it up with, best practices, and have it inspected for Class I Div II certification.
